HOW DO I PROGRAM THE TEK PAL?

    Set Up Procedures for TV

For programming assistance: 813.871.0389 or info@bigbuttonremotes.com

    1. Power on TV.

    2. Press and HOLD [ON/OFF] and [MUTE] buttons together until the indicator light illuminates (3 seconds).

    3. Press and RELEASE the [CH+] button, repeatedly, until the TV turns off. (Tek Pal contains more than 200 codes)

    4. Press and release the [MUTE] button immediately after the TV turns off to complete set-up.

    5. Power the TV on using [ON/OFF].  Tip: If the TV does not power back on, you may have pressed [CH+] after the TV turned off.

Proceed with setup again, but at step 3 use [CH-] to go backwards through the codes.  Your TV should turn off with just a few presses of the [CH-] button.

    6. For TV only users (no cable box or satellite receiver): Test the [Vol+/-], [CH+/-], and [On/Off].  If any buttons do not function, proceed with set up again.

    7. For cable box/satellite receiver users:  Test [On/Off] and [Vol +/-].  If [On/OFF] or [Vol +/-] buttons do not function, proceed with set up

again to find a better code. Then, proceed with additional set up procedures below.

Additional Set up Procedures for Cable/Satellite devices.

    1. Program TV first using instructions above.

    2. Power on TV and Cable or Satellite device.

    3. Press and HOLD [MUTE] and then the [ON/OFF] button together until the indicator light illuminates (3 seconds).

    4. Press and RELEASE the [Vol+] repeatedly until the cable or satellite device turns off.

    5. Press and release [MUTE] immediately after the cable or satellite device turns off. (Some “DTA” boxes do not power off.  Rather,

a message may appear on your TV screen).

    6. Power the device back on manually or using your old remote.

    7. Press and HOLD the [ON/OFF] and [CH-] buttons together until the indicator light blinks three times.  This step will configure the Tek

Pal to change channels on the cable or satellite device.

    8.  If the channels do not change, proceed with setup of cable or satellite device again.

    9. To enable Master Power:  Power on both the TV and cable or satellite device.  Press and HOLD [MUTE] and then [On/Off] together (3 seconds)

until the indicator light illuminates. Press and RELEASE [On/Off] three times.   Press and release [MUTE].

I PRESSED THE CHANNEL BUTTON DURING PROGRAMMING BUT THE TV WON’T TURN OFF.

At step 4 of the set-up procedures, you may have to press and release the Channel button many times, as there are over two hundred potential codes in the remote. You may have to press and release the CH+ button over and over again for up to approximately five minutes. (Each time you press the CH+ button, the remote attempts the next potential code.  When the Tek Pal lands upon a correct code, your TV will shut off. At that point, you will press the Mute button).  Please contact us if you are experiencing technical difficulties.  We are happy to assist you.

THE TV TURNED OFF DURING PROGRAMMING, BUT IT WON’T TURN BACK ON.

If your TV turned off during programming, but the TV will not turn back on, there are two potential solutions outlined below:

    1.  If you may have pressed the [CH+] button after the TV turned off, proceed with programming again, but at step 4 use [CH-] to go backwards through the codes.

Your TV should turn off with just a few presses of the CH- button.

    2.  Or, the remote found a partially correct code. Proceed with programming again, beginning at step 1.

ONLY SOME BUT NOT ALL OF THE BUTTONS WORK AFTER I TURNED THE TV BACK ON.

The remote found a partially correct code. Proceed with programming again, beginning at step 1 to find a better code.

If a cable box or satellite receiver is attached to the TV, follow the additional set up instructions for cable/satellite devices.

WILL MY OLD REMOTE STILL WORK IF I START USING THIS REMOTE?

Yes, your old remote control will still function. Our universal remotes will not affect the functionality of your old remote.

THE TEK PAL WAS WORKING, BUT NOW THE CHANNELS WON’T CHANGE

The default settings may have been changed.  If you have a cable or satellite device, press and hold ON/OFF and CH- buttons together until the indicator light blinks three times.  If you have TV only (no cable/satellite), press and hold ON/OFF and CH+ buttons together until the indicator light blinks three times.

THE TEK PAL WAS WORKING, BUT NOW THE VOLUME WON’T CHANGE

The default settings may have been changed.  Press and hold the ON/OFF and VOL+ buttons together until the indicator light blinks three times.

THE TEK PAL WAS WORKING, BUT NOW THE ON/OFF WON’T FUNCTION.

The default settings may have been changed.  Press and hold the ON/OFF and MUTE buttons together until the indicator light illuminates.  Then, Press and release the ON/OFF button once.  Press MUTE.
